STACEY

IN MEMORY OF MY BEST FRIEND STACEY: BY CHRIS POLNITZ.

Age: 20
 Weight:  15 pounds
Breed: Shih Tzu
My favorite dog was a Pitbull. My best friend named Stacy past on which was very painful to me. After her passing. Stacy’s dog, whom I named Stacy the Shih Tzu. She became my new companion, was truly my best friend. I really feel like dogs understand their owners on a deep level. When Stacy got ill and eventually passed away some years back, I was truly crushed. Even now, I still miss her to this day. Thus, I just wanted to share this memory with you and hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. Shih Tzu’s love being around people.

An affectionate and playful companion, the Shih Tzu loves being around people. Literally translated as ‘little lion,’ the Shih Tzu’s temperament is affectionate, playful, and a little bit feisty. Generally speaking, Shih Tzus are accepted to have originated as temple dogs in China or Tibet and fall into the Utility and Toy categories.

To maintain a Shih Tzu’s coat, a full brush out two to three times a week is best, with baths every one to two weeks. Additionally, never brush a dry coat; always lightly mist it with a hydrating spray. If the Shih Tzu is kept in a shorter trim, weekly brush-outs are still preferred. Furthermore, routine baths ranging between one to three weeks are desirable to keep their coat and skin healthy.

Where do Shih Tzus rank in intelligence? Depending on how you measure your Shih Tzu’s intelligence, they can rank relatively low or quite high. In Coren’s official ranking for obedience and working intelligence, the Shih Tzu ranks 70 out of 79 breeds. However, this doesn’t mean they aren’t smart. They possess a different kind of intelligence, often showing their cleverness in more subtle ways. For example, their affectionate and playful nature demonstrates their ability to connect with people on an emotional level.

As you can see, Shih Tzus are remarkable dogs with unique qualities that make them wonderful companions. They require regular grooming to keep their coats looking their best and possess a distinctive kind of intelligence that endears them to their owners. By understanding and appreciating these aspects, you can ensure a happy and fulfilling relationship with your Shih Tzu. Therefore, investing time in proper care and recognizing their unique intelligence will not only strengthen your bond but also bring joy and companionship into your life.
